Writer / Sound Designer / Journalist
ABOUT JOSH
For over a decade I've been living and working in Paris as a video journalist, sound designer, musician and voiceover artist.
Depuis plus d'une décennie, je vis et travaille à Paris en tant que journaliste vidéo, sound designer, musicien et artiste voix off.
I started my career working in factual documentaries in the UK before focusing on international news journalism.
In 2009, I was the recipient of the Ferdynand Zweig memorial scholarship at Falmouth University for my film on the plight of Iraqi refugees in Syria, which subsequently became a radio documentary produced for Radio France Internationale.
After settling in France, I worked across Europe and the Middle East as a video journalist for France 24, as well as a freelance voiceover artist, writer and videographer in Paris.
More recently, I worked as Managing Editor of Brut UK for the French social media news leader before going independent to specialise in writing, sound design and podcasts.
My passion for sound has often complemented my work as a journalist. In 2011, I documented the receding musical traditions of the remote Karnali region of Nepal for the British Library while also reporting on the emerging heavy metal youth movement in Kathmandu.
I produce music as Castle Rings, a project combining landscape and mythology with personal experience. Listen here.
